The Hybrid Mounting Pod

The Gibraltar Hybrid Mounting Pod GRS-HMP is designed for drum set-ups that use a lot of cymbal stands. This one piece of hardware does the work of two to three cymbal stands, cutting down on the amount of tripods taking up floor space. The Hybrid Mounting Pod attaches to the existing cymbal stand giving more space to mount accessories or cymbals right to the same stand and eliminate unwanted tripods. You can use the cymbal arm from your existing cymbal stands to make this change or select from Gibraltar’s large offering of custom cymbal mounting arms.

The Set up

For this project we decided to put the Hybrid Mounting Pod to the test.
This 5-piece drum set up has two mounted toms 10 and 12-inch with one 14-inch diameter floor tom and 5.5×14 snare drum. It uses just two tripod stands to outfit nine cymbals and auxiliary percussion. Normally, this style of set up would take at least four to five cymbal stands. Check out how clean the set up is using the Hybrid mounting pod!

The Foundation

The set-up starts with two double braced cymbal stands used as a foundation for the set up. GRS-HMP Hybrid Mounting Pods are mounted to each cymbal stand via the Super Multi clamp included in the Hybrid Mounting Pod kit, there are also two SC-GCRMC multi clamps included. The Super Multi clamp has 2 ½ -inches of clamp that provides extra solid mounting support to attach the mounting pod to the cymbal stand.

Add the hardware

Now all the other hardware is added to the kit. Pedals Hi hats, snare stand and cymbal mounting. There are two chrome multi clamps included in each Hybrid mounting package.

Extra Clamps

Additional clamps SC-GCRMC Chrome Multi Clamps can be added as needed. Be careful not to over load each stand, too much weight will create movement when you are playing. This set up goes a little extreme with many cymbals and percussion to show off the Hybrid design.

Suggest using memory locks

Round tubing on the Hybrid mounting pod gives you 360-degrees of positioning. The very nature of a customized setup is personalized, exacting placement of your instruments. Round tubing gives a secure grip in all degrees of placement. Always use memory locks alongside your clamps. The easiest way is to slide a few SC-GPRCML clamps on to your tubes in between your primary clamps. Slide those memory locks up next to those multi clamps and lock in the position. If you are a brutal pounder, sandwich the clamps of your heaviest instruments with two memory locks. These locks are critical to making your Gibraltar rack set up and tear down exactly the same each time.

Cymbal and Accessory Mounting

9707XB X-Hat with Gearless Brake Adjustment

This closed X-hat mounting system features “brake” style gearless adjustment for optimal positioning. The unit includes a multi-angle stand mounting clamp with 18” long 12.7mm diameter rod. Hi-hat cymbal tension can be easily dialed in and the brake adjustment features a key lock system to lock in the position.
