Image is as important as performance. We need our drum kit image to be hip and on the edge so it amplifies and enhances our performance. Don’t you just play better when you know you look good? Well, check out this all curved all chrome custom rack design.

Today we’re building a very unique kit set up that utilizes the Gibraltar GRS-420CC All Curved, All Chrome rack system. This rack system is unique in the fact that all bars both vertical and horizontal are curved and all rack bars and clamps are plated in a nice shiny chrome finish. Any drum kit set up on this rack will grab lots of attention.

The set up

The basic rack set-up consists of Gibraltar’s GRS-420CC All Curved/All Chrome Rack System. This uses a 46 inch curved front horizontal rack bar that spans across just above the bass drum. This front bar frames the toms and really shows off the lines of the kit. The two vertical leg sections are also curved, giving a laid back vibe to the drum kit. The curved legs also help bring the toms back to the player bringing in the toms and cymbals for easier reach.

GRS-420CC Rack System includes:

  • Curved 36-inch Vertical Support Tubes
  • Curved 46-inch Cross Mounting Tube
  • Chrome Plated Rack Clamps accent Curved Rack Design
  • Chrome Clamp offering includes: T-leg Clamp, Multi- Clamp, Right Angle Clamp, and Hinged and Standard Memory Locks

No Leg Snare Stand Option

GRS-420CC
We decided to eliminate the snare stand tripod to clean up the footprint of the rack. We used a 30-inch curved rack tube SC-GPR-30C mounted to the front vertical tube of the rack system via a chrome right angle clamp (SC-GRSCRA). A chrome multi clamp is used to mount the no leg snare stand. (GS-GRSCMC). This mounts the Gibraltar no leg snare stand 9606NL perfectly in playing position with extra legroom.

Cymbal Mounting

GRS-420CC

There are two SC-RMAA rack accessory attachments mounted to each vertical tube that allow for cymbal mounting. Notice the ride cymbal arm coming off the floor tom side of the rack. This positions the cymbal just right for playing yet takes up no extra space on the rack. Also leave the floor space open for a clean set up.

Two SC-USCB Ultra Adjust Boom Cymbal Arms are mounted from each RMAA mount. The no leg snare stand is mounted to curved bar via a multi clamp. Tom arms mount to the front rack bar via multi clamps with memory locks. A short boom arm is also mounted to the front horizontal rack bar with a multi clamp. A long boom arm is mounted at the right side from the vertical rack bar booming the cymbal out over the floor tom position.
