In this video we are starting with the basic rack structure for a two tiered keyboard set up and from there you can build custom keyboard stands to suit your style. With our hardware you can customize to fit any style or set up you’re looking for. The rack is very sturdy offering maximum stability while still being extremely light weight. It also makes those fast stage changes easier as it’s quick to set up and break down as it’s just three parts.
Plus there are many accessories you can use to add a laptop, a mic or another rack for additional keyboards.

This is a great idea for the gigging keyboardist looking new options for a sturdy and expandable stand.
Just a couple of suggestions.
1. Provide a complete item list of what needs to be purchased to create exactly what you have built for a basic two tier system, as shown in your video. Perhaps cost out a complete basic system.
2. Provide some specifications (width & height ranges, weight capacity and carrying weight, as these are things that every keyboard player is concerned with.
2. Create a “keyboard accessory” section on your page with the links to add accessories to the “basic” system.
There is far too much hardware in your catalog to go through, as most of it is unfamiliar to keyboard players.
Thanks.
How much wil this 2 tier custom keyboard stand cost?
Worldwidw shipping possible to Asia?
Very neat idea you guys had there!
A quick question:
Are the individual tiers adjustable in height? Or just the complete keyboard-stand as a whole?
Thanks.
I agree with Ray, completely.
I’m a keyboardist looking for a standing-height system that will support a 55 lb stage piano, 17 lb organ, and 9 lb 37-key synth. I go through conventional keyboard stands about every 2 months because they’re being made cheaper and cheaper, and screws, knobs, and such fall off all the time. Gibraltar seems to have the solutions, but I can’t afford to spend $700-800 (I assume, given the designs I’ve worked up) experimenting with what works and what doesn’t.
I’d be glad to share those sketches with someone at Gibraltar if they could let me know if the design would accommodate the weight, be rock solid (’tis your name, after all), and be something that can be collapsed easily.
Given the cheap, disposable nature of keyboard stands these days, I think Gibraltar would do well to offer some pre-configured keyboard stand rigs.
As a semi-pro keyboard player who has long bemoaned the state of keyboard stands, this idea looks amazing! I agree with the first commenter that you do need a parts list of some kind…I don’t mind figuring out the specs (height, distance, etc.) for myself, but I don’t even know where to begin. A basic parts list of what you showed in the video would at least help me get started.
+1 for a great job and thinking of a creative way to use your hardware! I ran across this on YouTube, and will share it with others.
Josh
Thanks for the insight and the kind words. Here is the parts list.
1 GSBR Basic rack
1 SC-GEMC mounting arms
2 SC-GRSRA right angle clamps
2 SC-GPR20 20” pipe
4 SC-GRMF rubber mounting feet
Holy crap. This is a breath of fresh air. Have you seen the prices for keyboard stands… especially sturdy and expandable keyboard stands?
I started pricing what was shown… it’s completely price competitive and delivers WAY more open-ended flexibility and stability than anything in any price (that is widely available, anyhow).
I’m totally sold. This was so obvious… how did I not see this before!
In fact… I need a new studio mixing desk to incorporate a mixer, a Kurzweil PC3k8 and a few rack items… and a couple levels of desk (one each for mouse, 2xLCDs, 2xStudio monitors). Time to crack open the catalog… I bet I can do better with Gibraltar than the expensive $2,000-$3,000 ‘studio furniture’ options out there which all seem to always be missing something critical (plus: MDF vs steel? ha) and all are totally inflexible down the road.
GREAT POST!!! More like this please guys.
