Gibraltar Rack Supports 200 lb. “Drum”

Gibraltar’s Brent Barnett, all 200 lbs, performs pull ups on a Gibraltar rack and tom mount to prove that using memory locks correctly will prevent your toms from slipping. Brent demo’s how to use memory locks, in this case a combo of slip on and hinged, to prevent any movement on the bar or the clamp.
Pretty much this ends the discussion on slippage… unless your toms are over 200 lbs!

Fastest Cymbal Mount Ever

Gibraltar Hardware’s Brent Barnett demo’s the quick release of the Swing Nut showing how fast your cymbal changes can happen when using the swing nut, part of Gibraltar’s new Turning Point technology. In addition to helping achieve quicker set changes this innovative design also prevents the cymbal from falling off due to the wing nut backing out during playing, especially if you’re a heavy hitter. Plus, the Swing Nut won’t fall off and slip through the riser or get lost in your hardware bag. Why add extra time to your set up if you can prevent it?

Gibraltar’s Extreme Hardware Makeover Video

Extreme Hardware Makeover is a new video that shows you how you can customize your drum kit using Gibraltar’s endless hardware options for drum customization.

The inspiration for the video came from my own experiences. I am constantly building and rebuilding my hardware and rack set ups to explore new solutions for drummers to fit any playing style or any drum kit. I have to admit since I don’t perform as much these days, I am now that guy in the basement at night geeking out to discover something new I can do with drum hardware. So, I decided why not share some of the fun and see what we could do to solve someone else’s problems. So we conceived the Extreme Hardware Makeover video where drummers like you can see our process of analyzing a hard working kit and how we can improve the functionality and beauty of the drum kit set up.

How to Set Up a Clean Looking Custom Drum Rack

The Kit

Stealth VMS 4-Piece Hybrid

Download the parts list PDF for the Stealth E Kit

We set up a kit with 18×22 bass drum, 9×13 tom, and 16×16 floor tom and 5.5×14 snare drum. The Stealth VMS Vertical Mounting System along with a traditional cymbal stand equipped with a Hybrid Mounting pod gives this set up a clean look showing off the drum kit.

The Stealth

Stealth VMS 4-Piece Hybrid

The Stealth VMS mounts the snare drum off a no leg mini T-leg and the mounted tom comes off the vertical rack post leaving a clean open space for the hi-hat stand. The mounted tom can also be positioned flat to match up to the snare drum if needed.

You can see a slight bend in the horizontal rack tube that connects the snare mount to the tom mount. This bend accommodates a double pedal connecting rod. In this set-up we are using a single bass drum pedal but this set up handles double pedals with no problem at low. The low rider bar fits under or above the double pedal connector bar.

The Stealth is also simple in the sense of easy set up, tear down, with not much to transport.
